You know the feeling
We all have those WoW stories. The raid that went completely to shit. The guild drama that got way too serious. The person you spoke to every night for years, then never heard from again. The stupid, gross, hilarious and genuinely important moments that somehow stuck with you.Trying to explain WoW nostalgia to somebody who never played doesn’t really work. I remember pulling an all-nighter in 2006, taking my second-ever character, Cisym on Darkspear, from level 1 to 11. I left Elwynn Forest and reached Westfall just as the real sun was coming up. That was the moment I realised the sun rose and set inside WoW too and the memory sticks with me.I remember Anklebiter, a gnome warrior. Decker, a human paladin. And Vesper, a draenei shaman. None of them knew each other, but I became friends with each of them separately. I spent years getting to know them and eventually, one by one, they all disappeared.Then there was Maraniel, our guild leader: a level 70 female human warrior who, over Ventrilo, turned out to be a Turkish man in his forties. I was 12 when we wiped on Morogrim Tidewalker in Serpentshrine Cavern. His phone rang and the entire raid listened as he screamed and smashed it to pieces. The dude was nuts.Maybe yours is the first zone that felt enormous. A ridiculous raid wipe. Or a character name you still remember perfectly, even though you never knew the person’s real name.The memories don’t have to sound important. They just have to take you back.Whatever came into your head while reading this that’s the story I want.
Why I'm doing this
Honestly, because I want to read these stories too.I’ve played WoW on and off for years. It’s been around a year since I last played, but some memories are still completely Soulbound. I know I’ll never forget them and I know other players must have thousands of their own.Right now, most of those memories are buried in old forums, scattered across Reddit or only remembered when something randomly brings them back. I want to collect the best ones somewhere players can easily find them, laugh at them, compare them with their own experiences and reminisce.Some will be shared through Still Soulbound online, and selected stories will eventually become part of a published collection.
What kind of story am I looking for?
The best stories aren’t always the biggest. I’m looking for the ones that clearly meant something to the person telling them.It could be:• A player or character name you’ve never forgotten
• A friendship, relationship or person who suddenly disappeared
• A first character, new zone or tiny milestone that felt enormous
• A raid win, endless wipe or complete disaster
• Guild drama, arguments, scams or spectacular fallouts
• Something hilarious, gross or completely ridiculous
• A time WoW genuinely helped you through something
• An ordinary night that still makes you smileIt doesn’t need to be dramatic or life-changing. If it makes you laugh, carries some weight or instantly takes you back, it belongs here.
Tell me your story
Write it exactly how it comes back to you. You don’t need to be a writer, and it doesn’t need to sound polished. Character names, realms, rough dates and tiny details all help but the memory is what matters.

• your character name, realm and region
• the approximate date and expansion connected to your memory
• the story and any other information you choose to include
• your anonymity and publication preferences
• the permissions you give for editing, publication and promotional excerpts
• whether you have chosen to receive project updatesPlease do not include anybody’s real name, contact details or other identifying information unless it is genuinely necessary and you have their permission. Character names may still identify somebody in certain circumstances.Why I use itI use this information to:• receive, organise and assess submissions
• contact you if I need clarification or further detail
• edit and prepare selected stories for publication
• publish selected stories in the Still Soulbound collection, online, in print, in digital editions or through Still Soulbound’s social channels
• keep a record of the permissions connected to each submission
• send occasional project updates where you have specifically agreed to receive them
• protect the project and its contributors from misuse, false claims or legal disputesMy lawful bases for using this information are your consent, the permissions and agreement connected to your submission, and my legitimate interest in operating, protecting and developing Still Soulbound.Marketing emails are only sent where you have actively chosen “Hell yeah”. You can withdraw that choice at any time by emailing [email protected].Who receives itI do not sell your personal information.Information may be processed by trusted services used to operate the project, including Tally for form submissions, Google for email and storage, Carrd for the website and Cloudflare for domain, security and email-routing services.These providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, I rely on the safeguards used by those providers to protect international transfers.How long I keep itSubmissions that are not selected may be retained for up to three years, allowing them to be reconsidered for future Still Soulbound releases.Selected or published stories, contact details and permission records may be kept for as long as the story remains in use, followed by up to six years where reasonably necessary to maintain publication records or deal with a dispute.Email-update details are kept until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent. A minimal record may then be retained to ensure you are not contacted again accidentally.Your rightsDepending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:• ask for a copy of your personal information
• correct inaccurate information
• request deletion or restriction
• object to certain uses
• withdraw consent
• ask for information to be transferred where applicableWithdrawing marketing consent will not affect any separate publication permission you have already given. Contributor Terms

Who can submitYou must be at least 18 years old to submit a story.By submitting, you confirm that the story is yours to submit and that, to the best of your knowledge, you have the right to allow Still Soulbound to use it.2. Your story remains yoursYou keep the copyright in your original submission.You give Still Soulbound a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to edit, reproduce, publish, distribute, display and promote the story in connection with the Still Soulbound project.This includes use:• on the Still Soulbound website
• in printed and digital collections
• in ebooks and future editions
• on social media, including Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
• in promotional posts, videos, advertisements and excerpts
• in other formats reasonably connected to the projectBecause the licence is non-exclusive, you remain free to use, share or publish your story elsewhere.3. EditingStories will remain in the contributor’s own words.I may correct spelling, punctuation and grammar, improve clarity, shorten the submission, remove repetition and format it for publication or social media.I will not deliberately change the meaning of your story or invent events that you did not describe. If a substantial editorial change is needed, I may contact you before publication where reasonably possible.I may also add a title, introduction, content warning or brief editorial context.4. Names and anonymityReal names should not be included.Depending on the option you select in the submission form, your story may be published using your character name or anonymously.I may remove or change character names, guild names, realm details and other identifying information where I believe this is necessary to protect somebody’s privacy or reduce the risk of harm.Anonymity cannot be absolutely guaranteed where the events or details of a story are already known to other people.5. Other people mentioned in your storyYou must not knowingly submit private information, copyrighted material or confidential communications that you do not have the right to share.Stories must not be submitted mainly to threaten, harass, humiliate or make knowingly false allegations about another person.If a story contains allegations, sensitive events or potentially identifying details, I may edit, anonymise, reject or remove it at my discretion.6. Selection and publicationSubmitting a story does not guarantee that it will be selected or published.I may accept, reject, postpone, edit or remove a submission for any reason. I am not required to explain an editorial decision.A story may be used in full, as an edited version or as a short excerpt.7. PaymentSubmissions are voluntary and unpaid.You will not receive a fee, royalty or share of revenue unless a separate written agreement is made with you in advance.8. Withdrawing a submissionYou may ask to withdraw an unpublished submission by emailing [email protected].Once a story has been published, printed, distributed, scheduled or incorporated into completed content, removal may not always be possible. Printed copies and material already distributed cannot be recalled.Where reasonably possible, I will consider requests to stop using a story in future digital content or future editions.9. Project updatesPermission to publish your story is separate from permission to send you marketing or project-update emails.You will only receive those emails if you actively choose to receive them, and you may unsubscribe at any time.10. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment.World of Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment and related names and marks belong to their respective owners.You should not submit screenshots, artwork, song lyrics, private messages or other third-party material unless you have permission to use it.11. PrivacyPersonal information connected to your submission is handled as explained in the Still Soulbound Privacy Notice.12. Changes to these termsThe version of these terms available when you submit your story will apply to that submission.Future changes will not retrospectively expand the publication rights you have already granted without your agreement.13.
